It's 9:35 pm in OR and about an hour ago it was announced that Barack Obama is our new president and instead of feeling joyful for this victory I am consumed with feelings of stress. Some evenings around here become such a battle. Mothering has been pushing me to my limits. I wish I could share the happiness and excitement that's being felt around the world right now, but I'm too drained and tired. I'm watching CNN coverage and it's making my eyes hurt. Meanwhile horn after horn beeps continuously down Alberta Street, people are cheering and parading the sidewalks celebrating a new era... but I just need to go to bed.
